The new season abroad is starting - I don't know which way the new forum is going to go in terms of the Ireland section of foot? It was the quieter of the three main forums (including the non-league stuff) and a few of the regulars (SkStu, Kingdom and others) have yet to find their way here. So I don't know will the thread-per-player take off - though it was really useful - or should we look at a smaller week-in-review sort of stuff?

Anyways, Szmodics, Idah and Seán McLoughlin off the mark with goals in the Championship, though Idah started on the bench as is usual for him at Swansea. Matt Doherty was an unused sub for Sheffield United, while Bazunu and Parrott didn't even make their squads and they may well be on the move before the transfer window closes. No Josh Cullen for Burnley either - still not back nine months after his cruciate knee injury. Molumby and Johnston started on the bench for WBA - Johnston stayed there - while Melia and Honohan were unused subs for Lincoln on their Championship bow. In Scotland, Scales hasn't featured for Celtic yet due to suspension, McGrath started on the bench, though Phillips scored, and McEntee is still in good form for Hearts.

We've two players in Turkey now - Festy has left Basaksehir to join newly-promoted Erzumuspor, while Sinclair Armstrong has joined Goztepe. Joe Hodge has left Portugal to move to Motherwell (but hasn't played yet I think), while the top flights in Italy and France are yet to start. Coleman, Smallbone and Robbie Brady are all still unattached, though Owen Elding has two European goals this season for Hearts already.

With four internationals in the same window the end of Sept/start of Oct, it's more important than ever that some of our players get into a run of form (and avoid injury...) in the coming weeks. I'm not sure the summer transfer window was all that good for us though - I'd say we're more likely to be in the bottom two than the top two of what's a tricky enough Nations League group
