Is that the current phrase or am I behind the times, as I so often am as I get older? (Turning into my dad, I swore I wouldn't.)

Is this even a contentious topic here? I think you'd need to be careful posting it in America now, but surely we're all agreed here that it's a thing, a thing we're all failing miserably at dealing with?

Can and should we as ordinary people really be shouldered with the blame, because we still drive ICE vehicles* and perhaps aren't quite as diligent with our waste sorting as we should be*?

According to The Journal, 200 million people will experience temperatures over 35 degrees today, and 400 million over 30. (And no, the statistics aren't being mangled, as is being claimed by patent liars on social media.) But the statistic that really got me over the last few days is 40 people drowning in France. That statistic doesn't even make sense, but there is is. Weird but horrific.

I don't drive an electric car because I can't afford it, mostly, but also because I'm a petrolhead that still prefers a manual. I quite like the new R5, but I don't think I'll ever own an electric car. I also think that it's very contradictory to tell us every day that we should reduce, reuse and recycle, but that we should ditch our current cars immediately because they're Bad. Old dryers and washing machines are bad, but I'm not just going to throw them away for a (vastly overpriced) A rated one.
And I'm not quite as diligent about sorting my waste because I know half of it isn't being recycled anyway. Why don't you fix your thing and then I'll try harder with mine?
